Pushkar, Rajasthan

Held each year, according to the Hindu calendar, Pushkar Camel Fair is celebrated from Kartik Ekadashi (11th lunar day) to Kartik Poornima (full moon day or the 15th lunar day of Kartik). Kartik Poornima is the main day of the fair. On this day devotees take a bath in the Pushkar lake. Pushkar, being one among the five dhams or pilgrimages, has a great importance for Hindus and thus, attracts an influx of visitors from across the globe.

Since the city is surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the other, it forms a fascinating location for the annual religious and cattle fair.

In the year 2018, the Camel Fair will take place from 18th November to 25th November.

A grand display of Rajasthan's cultural and social spirit, Pushkar Camel Fair holds a range of events. With spellbinding folk music and dances, camel races, tug-of-war, camel beauty contests, turban-tying contest, magic and puppet shows, acrobatic performances, moustache competition, etc, you will not miss out on entertainment. The Pushkar Mela also offers the basic essentials of a carnival such as various rides, giant Ferris wheel, hot-air balloons, camel safari, food-stalls and small shops to buy souvenirs.

While in Pushkar, do visit the only Brahma Temple in the world!
